Transporter - Advanced Effects
The transporter works and it looks pretty good, but it suffers from one large,
but easily correctable problem: the edge of the effect is too sharp. The solution
is to add a blur to the matte in Track 1, which is the parent track of the
effect. To add the blur effect:
1. Click the Event FX button on the end of the matte clip (see image below).
2. In the Plug-in Chooser - Video Event FX dialog, double-click Gaussian Blur.
3. Click the OK button to close the dialog and open the Video Event FX dialog.
4. Adjust the effect parameters.

The difference between the "Before Blur" and the "After Blur" is quite distinct:

Of course there's quite a lot more you can do with this to customize the transporter to your preferences. I found that adding effects to the sparkle clip was particularly fun. Make sure you take a look through the resources I've included below for more ideas and project help. Have fun and make sure you don't overload those pattern buffers.

Resources:
- Download the completed project here. I've obviously used still images in the example to make the file size smaller, but it should be a simple matter for you to substitute your own source footage.
- Here's a funny parody I made using these techniques, in case you missed it on the first page: vsubspace.mov (1MB).
- Check out this guy's site, where I found out about the Alka-Seltzer. He does it proper: low-tech and old school.
