Transporter - Crossfading Crewman
The final step is easy, if a bit unintuitive. As you can see on the timeline below, I've brought our crewman back and overlapped that clip with the background. Track 3 looks (and acts) exactly like the timeline in the first step: the crossfade of the crewman over an identical background makes him appear out of thin air. The trick to get the whole effect to work properly is to duplicate the crewman clip and drag a copy up to Track 2 (CRTL+drag the clip up). The reason for this is to create a crossfade between the sparkle region and the crewman.

You
could trim these clips back, but I think you'll find that the crossfade in
Track 3 will compensate for any mistakes you made in shooting, like leaving
the auto exposure mode on. The last operation we are going to perform in this
step is to fade the effect in. Since the visible part of the effect lies in
Track 2, all we need to do is grab the fade handle on the corner of the clip
and create a fade in (pictured at right)..
Add a transporter sound effect and you're all done. Well, you could be done, but the effect could look a little better.
